Question? ticks?

i have gotten a grey fox and it is loaded with ticks . i have pulled about a hundred of . the fox has been frozen for more than a week . my question is do they die or can they come back to life as scorpions can when they are froze. thank you in advance. bruce

That depends on how long they have been frozen and at what temperature. Chances are good that they are dead, but if you mangle them as you remove them, they CANNOT come back from that treatment. Wear gloves when handling ticks. Fluids from the tick may infect you with a rikketseal (Lyme's, RMSF, etc.)by way of transference through a scratch or cut on a finger.

To insure death, lift tick gently from fox's skin with tweezers. Place on flat surface and then SMASH with a ball peen hammer....


waht about fleas or lice

is there any other good way to kill ticks, lyce, fleas from animals without freezing them?

Put critter in plastic bag, spray Raid, close bag.

Tried the hammer, now realize I'm suppose to let go of tick before caving it's brains in. Your welcome Bruce.
