Explain in detail what exactly is done when one turns the eyelids and cleans them. How are the eyelids handled when mounting on the form

Ok, Just Curious, I'll try to 'splain. You've got your deer cape turned inside out. Use a scalpel ( or I use single edge razor blades) and start from an inch or so away from the eye hole and shave down to the hide towards the eye hole. Do this carefully all the way around the eye. I go right up to the edge of the eyelid. When done properly you should actually see the roots of the eye lashes. You will end up with a flap of skin and flesh attached only to the eyelid now. At this point I insert a fleshig horn (or any hard cylidrical object of the proper diameter) through the eyehole from the outside. Now this object serves as a small fleshing beam to give support while the flesh is removed from the membrane. When that's done I trim this membrane so that I end up with a thin membrane about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch wide all around the eye. During the mounting process I tuck this membrane in between the glass eye and the clay I have modeled around the eye. Capice? Whew, I'm long winded! Does this help or only confuse? Get some literature on deerhead mounting or a video. It's easier to show that explain. Good luck to you!

Got it
