Fleshing tool

I was wondering if any of you have ever tried or heard of fleshing a fox or bobcat after salting using a hacksaw blade, ran into an oldtimer (70+) and he said when he was younger that he scraped his hides from trapping with one then had been heated and bent into a horseshoe shape and placed in a handle. I had to try and make one for the next cat or fox I get, It worked wonderful on prepairing the manikins for a few shoulder mounts I done this weekend. It roughs the forms up way better than any steel brush I've used and was faster, anyways, was just wondering if anyone has tried it before?

Gary, we will use a bone saw blade from time to time, but most of the time a good drawknife is still the answer.
