Just about to do my first rabbit- sounds a stupid question but how do you preserve the ears? Aren't they going to go off? Any advice appreciated

Yo Rid,
When I do a rabbit I turn the ears inside out just like you would a deer. It's tedious, but take it easy and you can do it. Before turning them I trace them on a piece of very thin cardboard from which I make earliners. When it's ready to mount I mix up a little bondo mixed with fiberglass resin to make it runny. I pour the bondo into the ear and smoosh it around evenly and then slide the earliner in. You can place a ball of clay into the ear butt to shape your transition. Be sure to use the pink bondo hardener not the blue. When finished the pink bondo will give a nice pink hue to the inner side of the ear so no paint need apply. Good luck!
Peace!
