Skinning an armadillo tail?

Submitted by Charley on 2/21/05 at 1:23 AM. ( )

OK... I check the search and all I found was how to clean the shells. I have an armadillo that I have managed to skin, but now I am trying to skin the tail out and have no clue how to get the tail meat out of there!
Thought about just injecting it with preserve-it but I'm not sure if it will preserve that much meat. This thing stinks enough as it is I don't want a tail full of rotting meat.
Anyone ever do one of these dirtball little animals? Please give me some help on this one!?!?!?
Thanks in advance!

Skinning Tail

This response submitted by Lee on 2/21/05 at 8:10 AM. ( )

What i have done is to cut around the rings on the tail and take the tail apart in sections. I didn't cut around every ring, but about every other at the big part of the tail and then about every 3 on the lower side.. When I mounted it I made my tail from excelcier(wood Wool) pretty close in size. Then I attached the sections of tail with bodo. make a very solid tail for me. Hope this helps you out. Good Luck!

Use a drill

I drill them out. Dig and pull with needle nose pliers. Treat with formalin and then use DP.
