Has anyone out there tried mounting a bandicoot, in particular a Southern Brown Bandicoot (a small rodent-like marsupial from South-western Australia)? I am not sure whether it is a defensive mechanism or not against predators, their primary hairs have a tendency to shed from its body. It makes skinning and tanning quite messy with hairs regularly falling out during each process. By the time I reach completion, the primary hairs have noticably reduced in number exposing the fine insulating hairs below. I am sure it is not the standard bacterial activity one would associate with hair slippage. I have mounted a number of bandicoots over the years and they all exhibit the same hair loss. Can anyone throw any light on how I can overcome this problem? Many thanks.
