I was wondering if the leather produced by krowtann is capable for being used in hats and other durable things. If so, can the hat be somewhat exposed to sweat and light rain, not excessive moisture?

Alum tans work fine for mounts.
Enough if geo and mrs. . dont agree with the rest of us.
There are many types of tans that will work for garments, but that depends on fur on a slick skin.
