I rehydrated a coyote yesterday and i fleshed it today. It was from a trapper who had it dryed and he wants me to tan it for him. Well the whole thing rehydrated but the ears are still stiff and i cannot split them. Right now I salted it and i am goin to put it in the pickle. Can i place it in the pickle and come back in 2 days to split the ears?

if you have some stop rot, this will help rehydrate the dry spots, and yes the pickle should soften it up.

I've had slipage at the base of the ears after putting them in the pickle. I have never use stop rot ,maybe that will help, it seems to me that if they were killed early in the season and air dried that;s when i seem to have problems. the same for fox.
