Recently got a skunk and when I went to pull it out of the pickle and squeeze the water of of the tail some of the hair slipped in a spot about an inch long. It almost goes all the way around the tail. I squirted it with stop slip and tanned it pronto to keep any of the rest of it from coming out.
Could I just cut all the way around the tail, take out the hairless portion then sew the two pieces back together?

Yes you can do this, its tedious but sometimes the only way to go. I would probably try to replace the whole tail.
