mounted fox and it looks like he is smiling what did i do and how to fix should i just try to paint it to cover it up?

Tell him a bad joke! The worst thing that could happen is that it might frown! It's kind of hard to tell w/out pictures, but maybe you made the back corners of the mouth too high, or the front lip is tucked in too tight. Good luck.
Many times if you don't tuck the lips along the slot lines properly and completely, it lends a curvature to the lip line that gives it a grin.
