Just got done skinning a full coyote and have turned lips, eyes, and nose. I been removing as much fat and meat from hide with my hands with borax for grip. I also used scissors and knife for fleshing and now I am salting. Not yet happy with all the fat and meat and membrane removal. After I salt for a couple off days would a high psi washer do the trick?

if i were in your situation i would go ahead and throw it in the pickle, then you should beable to scrap off any excess meat or fat. the first couple yotes i skinned and scrapped of with the skife knife and scalpel but was cutting holes in it and took too much time and not really getting off fat that well. so i tried using the dakota flesher on it while it was still green and found out it did the job real well and somehow i managed to not cut holes in it.

Don't forget to turn the ears, and for the psi washer i don't know seems like way to much waterand possible damage to the hide.I my self would work with sissor's and knive it's all work.

heres how i do it

do all of my coyote the same way - skin and turn e'thing - get off all chunks - now i do one of two things

1) throw in krowtann and wait at least two day

2) salt overnite and then flesh - the salt will firm up the flesh - actually you only need to leave it on for 3-4 hours - as far as gettting all of the membrane i think that is a waste of time - have mounted about a zillion of them and have never had any trouble - get as much as possible and forget the rest

i use both a wire wheel and fleshing machine
