coyote measurement help

I have a coyote skinned for a life size mount. The skin is already tanned and the guy I got it from did not have the live measurements.
When I lay the skin on the floor in a life like pose and measure the c measurement im getting like 46 inches. (nose to base of tail) This seems rather large since the biggest form Van Dykes has is 37 1/2. The A measurement is only 4 inches. Does any one have a trick to getting a close measurement to order a form. Any reply is greatly appreciated.

Uh, did you stretch it width wise?

Furbearers are always stretched during tanning. You MUST stretch them widthwise.

no

No i did not. I would have to rehydrate it. Would it be safe to rehydrate now, and freeze until mounted?

Yes, Bill.

The only way to get accurate measurements to order a form is to rehydrate/sweat the skin. Then you can freeze it until ready to mount.
