soaking a d.p. hide for re-mounting

was wanting to re-mount a mink that i mounting yrs. ago, can i soak this hide to relax it so i can re- mount it.if i can what is the best thing to soak it in .

That is one of the downfalls of a dry preserved hide. I am not speaking from experience but was told that they tend to have a memory. They do not re-soak well. If it is not a prized posession then try it if you are not afraid of losing it. If not I would leave well enough alone.

DP is not so bad as a tanned hide for memory

Just be prepared to lose it completely,however. Small furbearers like that can spell real trouble at any point and rehydrating a DP hide fits right in there. If it's an early mount in your career, just use it as a reminder of the improvements you've made, get another mink and prove it.
