tanned mule deer hide

i just bought a mule deer cape that was tanned and it has a couple of holes in it. do i have to rehidedrate to fix the holes, and then mount or can i just sew them up and mount it

Yes, rehydrate/sweat

You need to do this to verify measurements for ordering a form anyway. All repairs should be done after rehydration/sweating. Freeze until ready to mount if you are waiting for the form.
