Oily hide

Has any one ever used a commercial oil dry (used for oil spills)to reduce the oil and fat on a greasy hide like raccoon, porcupine or hog.

The product you're speaking of is sold by the name brand "Speedy Dry". This is basically kaolin and though it would undoubtedly absorb the oil, it will leave your hides a muddy mess and require extensive washing. If you're working on those hides before degreasing, sprinkling either hardwood sawdust or corncob grit from your bird tumbler makes the job easier and with less mess afterwards.

put it in a tumbler toget all the moisture out of the fat
