Does anyone have any experience shipping mounts over seas? I have to ship a bobcat mount to the UK and am wondering if I need any type of export permit? I have the CITES tag of course.
Thanks

You have to ship it thru a broker, the frieght companies can assist you and even find one for you. It is a lot of paper work but just take a deep breath, call them and you will get thru it fine.
I have paid between $35.00 and $85.00 to ship to the UK and (shuussssh) France. The price has dropped with the Euro conglomeration. That does not include shipping. You must have the CITES tag before anything can be done. It must go with the mount.
and they will tell you what paperwork you have to do to ship this trophy. Sometmes we use a broker.....sometimes we do not. It all depends on what you are willing to do......and not do to save money, I guess its like anything else in life.
CAUTION !
Gary , your client will have to call customs and fish & wildlife
IN HIS COUNTRY , he will need a cities import permit, you will need a cities export permit.
DO NOT SHIP IT UNTIL HE FAXES YOU A COPY OF HIS CITIES IMPORT PERMIT
then you coutact U.S. Fish & Wildlife and show them the copy of his permit and then your ass is covered. You will also need a detailed invoice for customs his side. If you have any questions call me at (705)476-0483 For shipping get all his credit card information, go to the airport, and go to cargo and ship it that way, should be much cheaper then U.P.S.
I ship all over the world.
Houlel is from Canada and Canadian laws are not USA laws.
In the USA, you have to export your CITES stuff through one of 13 ports.
[The Canadians I just bought fur from don't seem to understand this and insisted on putting wolves through North Dakota DUH... I don't understand that at all.]
So anyway, get yourself a US Customs Broker at one of these 13 ports. Ship the bobcat and the tag to that broker at that port, with the 3-177 and 3-200.
Then pay them and let them do the work. It's their job.
The UK has really wierd laws about cites stuff and especially big cats and wolves, make SURE it's legal for your guy to buy before you sell it to him, nobody likes to do refunds based on country/federal law.
