I am doing a rug out of a wolf, but he has an odor. I got him already tanned, he has like a dog smell, not a rotten flesh smell. He is tanned and has been oiled so I am woundering how to get that odor out of him before I send him to my customer. Should I wash him in dawn dish soap or what? Please help me out here!
Thanks in advance.

call the tannery about it that tanned it. You might be able to drum him in naptha/ sawdust for awhile to get rid of it. But the tannery should fix it. I would say do not wash it until you talk to an expert that can take a look at it.
I already soaked him in dawn and water for about 20 mins. then rinsed him really good and let him drain for 20 more min.. I have him in a bag still wet and aI'm going to let him sit in the fridge until tomorrow, to soften him up, and then do all the head and rug work on him. If I am making any mistakes please let me know, also is there any tips out there for doing the head work?
Thanks
Charley
There are several different solutions that are suppose to knock out odors-I use febreeze and see what that will do-but for the really tough odors ,I've used Finishing Deodorizer from Knoblochs,it did take away the bad odor, but it has the smell of really strong pinesol,so you'll have to let that air out a bit before returning to the customer.
