BLACKBEAR 1/2MOUNT

I,M GOING TO DO A 1/2 LIFE SIZE BLACKBEAR WALL MOUNT DO YOU SUGGEST SKINNING SAME AS FOR A RUG (BELLY) OR SHOULD IT BE SPLIT DOWN THE BACK TO MAKE SEAM EASYER TO HIDE.IF SO WITH A BACK CUT HOW ARE THE FRONT LEGS SKINNED OUT? I HAVE NEVER DONE A 1/2 MOUNT THANKS

I don't think you have a lot of control when it comes to gutting them and stuff. The one I did was gutted up the belly to the arms, so I just went up to the neck and out to the underside of the arms. I think the best way would be to skin down the back, bring the skin around front do the legs and any relief cuts, then over the head. Camp guides aren't sympathetic to taxidermists needs or procedures.. Good luck with your bear, they take a lot of time so plan a day when you're ready to mount it.
