Coyote...dry preservative.... belly skin sagging ..13 days

I mounted a coyote, dry preservative, 13 days ago. I measured the chest tight over the hair before skinning and ordered the form to that exact measurement. Usually I will have about one inch of overlap at the seam or just meet. On this yote I had a four inch overlap at the seam and the belly skin is still soft and sagging an inch or two from the form, 13 days after mounting. Normally my mounts are dry in 2 weeks. Anyone had this problem? Thanks, Ken

its not an exact science, but 4 inches extra at the seem is way to much! after test fitting you should have made the proper alteration or ordered a bigger form, now as for the drying, think of a wet dish rag streched out in the sunshine or one loosely piled up, wich one will dry faster?

The idea is to make the form fit the skin. Now you,ll have to make the skin fit the form. This mount will dry in time but will be distorted like that loosely piled rag above. Coyote fur is long and thick. Easy to hide seams in. You can cut out and sew back strategic areas of skin to get rid of the loose hanging problem. Then inject some plain caulk to fill in and contour the skin.
