In Wisconsin is it legal to do taxidermy on chipmunks? 13-lined ground squirrels? I don't actually plan on mounting any too soon, but I have seen some chipmunk mounts and thought they looked pretty cool. By the way, I have made an effort to check DNR regulations.

take advice about the law unless you are talking to the law, people on here are taxidermists and trappers etc.. Although they may give you correct advice, they may also be wrong and how will you know the difference? Call your local game warden and ask him, better yet do like I always do and send him a letter and ask him to reply in writing. He will look for the REAL answere and be much more careful about how he gives his answere and not just say no so he doesn't have to look it up. I have had that happen a few times before.
Just my thoughts and I hope I didn't come across to abrasive!
Hi jc, Even though I am only a Wisconsin taxidermist, I am also the Chairman of the Wisconsin Taxidermist Assc. Legislative Committee and I deal with the DNR and Taxidermy Law on a regular basis. Chipmonks are not protected in Wisconsin. You can also mount them without a Wisconsin Taxidermy Permit if you mount them solely for yourself. If you mount any chipmonks for a consideration ( meaning for money, trades, or anything ) for friends or whomever, you will need a taxidermy permit. If you have any more questions, feel free to e-mail me.
for answering my question on chipmunks, what about 13-lined ground squirrels?
