how do you get the smell of a skunk out of the skunk. I have tried all sorts of things, they helped, but i can't seem to get it all out. I've mounted all sorts of critters. but this is my first skunk, and boy has it been interesting.

I take the skin and wash it twice in water and dawn soap.I then soak it in a pail of cold water with 2 drops of (Tap A Drop)for at least 2 hours. Then I rinse the skin and mount. After the mount drys for a day I spray it several times with fabreeze. When it drys you cant smell a thing.Iv mounted a lot of skunks with no problems doing this.Someone else may have an easier way,but this works great for me.

There's already a recipe in the archives of a simple chemical method that will remove the smell without soaking the skin.

Look under "skunk hide smell" and read the recipe I posted on April 4 this year.

The recipe works, But only after you flesh it down and degrease. Mine turned out GREAT.
