God created creatures in different sizes. Each one of them fits the skin they were born in. If you kill a skinny one, the skin won't fit on the body of a big one. We continually warn people on here about stretching hides beyond their natural state. It's TROUBLE down the road as drumming and pulling will likely prevail eventually. If you want a rutted mule deer, shoot one or buy one. I've seen taxidermists actually order much smaller sizes so that the rutted appearance would come out. That will work sometimes, but often times, the skull plates don't fit the mannikin and have to be cut and narrowed to accommodate the smaller form.

use a smaller form

Just use a smaller form. If you're having trouble getting enough stretch, then you're trying to stretch it too much. Most stretch problems can be resolved by not trying to stretch a cape so much. Just get the correct size form (1/2 less than your neck measurement usually works). Good luck and stop stretching.
