That same recipe and those instructions are already archived at least three other times that I know of. There's tons of other neat ideas in there as well and they've withstood the tests of time.

Your mixture only eliminates the odor of the skunk, however, and does nothing to preserve the skin as it needs. So just click the orange icon in the left margin. Check it out. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

First off salt does not tan anything, it just keeps bacteria from growing and pulls out the moisture, once it is 100% dry bacteria won't grow. It does not preserve it or tan it, let that salted skin get moist and have no salt on it and watch the maggots eat it away, trust me I had that happen once! If you keep it dry or salted it will last for a long time, but it isn't good for anything cause it is going to be stiff as a board. I know how it is when you are young and it is fun just to salt a hide down and let it dry and it is really just a step in the right direction and all but in order to permanetly preserve that skunk You have to TAN the hide with either a pre-mixed bunch of chemicals like EZ-Tan 100 or something like it, mix all the chemicals together yourself, I don't suggest that, or get a tanning kit.
