What is a good dry persitive mixture

wondering what would be a good dry presertive combination for a squirl? I was told just borax but i know that that is only a bug previnitive. I assume i need something with a high ph what else does everyone else use?

Borax or tan it

Borax will work just fine. Has been uesd for many years with no problems. Either borax or tan it!

It's just cheaper to buy the stuff. In all my years, I've only used Touchstone after having tried a few others. Most DP contains borax, and alum, but the majority of the mix is talc( probably 60% or more). Then proprietary secret ingredients like moth crystals, pepper, etc. are added to make a particular brand unique. Borax will work, but I like the astringent qualities of DP and it's much finer allowing me to work it into smaller areas.

I use borax. but I run it in a blender to make a fine powder.
