if you mess with an animal possibly rabid such as skunks racoons foxes....... are you at a good risk of aquiring it will skinning the animal and are there many cases of this happening to taxidermists.

And just type in "rabies". I think you'll find all your answers, but the quick version of yours is "yes", and "not sure". That's why it's imperative that taxidermists should always, ALWAYS, wear rubber gloves. I double glove on rabies vectors.

Yes! Do like George and most of the rest of us and double glove. Always wear gloves no matter what you are skinning. It isn't fail safe though, so be careful with your skinning utensils. Do like George said and search rabies, you will find it very interesting reading.

i do rabies testing for my job, and i can tell you that any animal (most often raccoons) that come in with quills in the face are positive for rabies 100% of the time. so if you have an animal with quills, i wouldn't touch it.
