I have a cape buffalo that I just got thru mounting.. This buffalo was rather large and I had a hard time slipping the horns.. I tried boiling them only to have a portion of the bone come off inside the horn.. I packed it with dry preservatives and went ahead and mounted it.. Now I have an odor that conserns me.. Does anybody have any suggestions?

You have problems now. You should have let it soak in water till they came loose. You may have bug problems later.

on cape buffalo do not normally slip completely off the cores without doing major damage to the core. Most are already boiled way to much in Africa? You should spray in some Millers bug proofing and rebuild the bosses. Drill some small holes on the back side to let the moisure out and spray some bug juice into, you can fill the hoses again with putty when finishing after its really dry.
