Shouldn't take that long, I did mine for about twenty minutes, dunking it a few times now and then. It will cut almost all of it, and then mount it up even if it still has a hint of odor. Buy some Febreze and spray it on the hair after the mount is mostly dry, this will take the last of the odor out. Don't skip the Febreze.
