Bobcat Pedastal

I will be mounting a bobcat pedestal mount. What is the best way to cover the back of the form? I thought about using leather. How would I go about getting this to look right? Is there any web site that shows the back of pedastal mounts? Thanks

Artie,
I just finished a ground hog pedastal mount and found that I had enough hide to bring around to the back of the form to fully cover the back. It looks nice and I didn't have to add anything else. The threaded rod that the form uses to attach to the fake rock comes out of the front bottom so I didn't even need to cut around it to make anything fit. Good luck

Mike

I have used felt, leather, and other coverings on my pedestal mounts (coyote, bobcat, deer, and antelope), but the last few years I have used Fleck Stone or one of the other spray stone products, easy to apply and customers like the look.

IF you are creating your own pedestal(using/making your own rock), try shaping the rock to the back of the form(with a 1/4-1/2 in. clearance where the rock & base meet to allow for tucking the hide)to make it look as if "set in stone". My customers really like it. Roger Martin said he likes the effect my idea(on displaying his pedestal mount forms).Try it, you might like it!-Susan
