Found a dead baby hog

Went out on a hike today with my 7 year old daughter and found a tiny baby polynesian boar (I'm in Hawaii)no bigger than a rat. Funny it didn't have an umbelical cord attached though. The hog was dead just to the side of a steadily hiked trail and in the open. She was in full rigor and had baby maggots here and there but had no injuries, even after skinning it out, there was no apparent injury. As I was skinning I could smell a slight tinge of rot setting in on the carcass. Since our daytime temps here have been in the high 80's and nights in the 70's I'm guessing it died maybe 12 hours prior to my discovery. I'm going to try a full body mount with it. I coated it with stop rot, turned and salted. This is one of those times I'll get to test the stop rot under more compromising conditions. I've used it in the past but just as a preventitive thing, but not under a more diar situation like this. I've read on here though how it's been proven in worst situations. Now I've gotta learn how to make a body cast. Something I've never done. Anyone here care to hold my hand through that I'd appreciate it. I can email you or call you. In the meantime I'll be surfing the archives.

Thanks, Mike (Hogger)

Mike, A while back I did a gray fox kit. It was a very little guy so I skinned, froze body in the pose I wanted, cut legs and head off with a hack saw, made plaster molds of each leg the body and the head, cast the body from bondo (remember I said it was a little fox). I assembled the body and got a perfect "glove fit". My little fox was rolling around playing with a feather but your little pig would be much the same job and no bigger than they are the heavy bondo medium is not all that bad-in fact the finished fox was pretty close to actual fox weight. enjoy, Aaron H.

Thanks much folks
