I was wondering if it is ok to put clay in the fridge to keep it around? I have regular potters clay and critter clay. Lats winter I had the potters clay in my garage (no heat and it froze) and I noticed when I started using it the spring it was kinda chunky, but still usable. I was just wondering if I could store these clays in the firdge, or will it ruin them? Thanks, Kevin

I put all my clay in the freezer and it's still good after 2 years if you seal it good in a plastic bag.
Freezing clay is not a bad way of storing it. For me it takes up room in my small freezer.Try this and see how well you like it. I have done it this way for over 30 years. Wrap your potters, critter clay etc., in wet wrung out rags or towels that were soaked in water treated with a bacteracide. Wrap in a plastic bag and store on your shelf. Dried clay can be "re-claimed" this same way.

...put the clay in a plastic bag (double bag it if not already in the bag it came in) and put it in a tupperware container. It will keep most of the air out and I have used the same 25lb block of clay for 6 years only in the last two did I have to rehydrate it.
Thanks, John
clay is already in the bag. make a hole.I use an old arrow shaft , run a hole down the middle of it , fill the hole with water, plug the hole with some clay and re-seal the bag. The water will be drawn from the center and will be as wet as you want it.
i keep my critter clay (potters clay gets used b4 it dries out) in a gallon ice cream container and inside a plastic bag - everytime i use it i stick it back in the container and mist water inside ice cream container - works great
