I will be mounting a bobcat this weekend and was wondering if, rather than use bondo for the ears, if I could use a two part epoxy glue that you get from Wal-Mart that come in a plunger type syringe, with the two parts separated until you press the plunger. Then you mix the two parts together. I've left some of the stuff on the cardboard that i mix it on and it's set up really stiff. I know that this may sound like a silly question, but could this stuff be like Ear Magic or Magic Ear ?

on things like fawn ears. the only thing I would do is add some fiber glass chop to it. Joe
and two months ago I mounted a coyote for myself. To experiment I used the epoxy you speak of with a peace of soda box cut in the shape of the ear and they are as hard as the ear liners I ordered for the coyote that seemed way to thick.
I removed the cartilage
Magic Ear is the same kind of epoxy, but Magic Ear has a super fine filler saturating it. the 5 minutes stuff will work, but without a cartilage, it may be a tougher proposition.
I am looking for Taxidermist in the east texas area that are interested in showcasing their works in a new sporting goods store. Probably the best advertisement you can get espically since hunters and fisherman alike com in all the time contact me at scott71302@netzero.com
Apoxie Sculp the best stuff next to peanut butter. Works great on any small-med mammals ears.
Apoxy sculpt is not pliable enough for me. In order to get it out into the edges, you have to squeeze it out there and the bobcats I work on are more than likely to slip with all this pressing and squeezing along the ear edges. I'll still with Ear Magic.
when cartilage is removed - i make my own earliners out of quart plastic cottage cheese containers (it helps to have kept the original earliner for a guide) but it is not that hard to do trial and error - after i get the right size i slosh resin with hardener in it on both sides of liner and slip in ear - done in 15 minutes
I have used that stuff for repairs around the house, and I'll tell you it gets very hot when it kicks....be carefull !
