What is the best way to skin a cougar for a life size mount. What is the least amount of incesions you have to make. I have had most people bring them cut for a rug and want them life size. As you know this way is a pain in the xxxxx. I have one to do that was cut up both back legs and tubed the rest of the way to the head. I have only done a hand full of these as you can tell by my post. what is the best incesions to make. Thanks Jack

is best - if you skin down back it is VERY HARD to hide seam coz of shorter hair than say a coyote - its a pain in the but but skinning out all legs and splitting the belly is the way to go
Terry is right.Cut similar to how you cut for a rug is the way to go.I dorsal cut weasels, but wouldn't think of it for a mountain lion-really hard to hide the seam,no matter how well you sew.I cut up the back of the foreleg to the elbow, then swing inward, but stay out of the armpit as you head toward the chest centerline. When I skin one,I want this cut that connects the two front legs,to cross the pectoral muscles, rather than down in the armpit.Your centerline cut has to go all the way to where the throat joins the head. Most lions have a head bigger around than their necks-can't easily tube the neck.Good luck.
