bear rug tannery

Submitted by Adam on 9/25/05 at 7:19 PM. ( ) 24.197.189.192

I know there are a lot of tanneries out there that do tanning for bear rugs but times change and some places get crappy or become better. Any suggestions on where to send it just for the tanning?

The orange button gets me old information, new places are built and some are gone.

I am sure there are many who do good work. I have tried quite a few and by far prefer Carolina Fur Dressing in NC. They also offer a 60 turn around on Deer,Bears and Cougars. IMO the best tannery around.

I will have to agree with Jim on this. Have used alot of tanneries but Carolina Fur seems to be the one for us.

YOST

I have been sending customers to YOST for over 14 years. They neutralize and oil their skins very well. I get maximum stretch out of thier bear skins. We have heard great things about the Wildlife Gallery being good for rug skins also and have sent a few bears to them but haven't worked them up yet. There are many great tanneries out there, but I feel rug tanning needs a bit more attention as they need to be soft and supple when stretched.
