infected skin

I just got done skinning a bobcat that I bought and had in my freezer for about 3 months. On the back of the cat there was a 2" diameter hole that looks as if it was an abcess. It looks as if the infection spread down the flanks under the skin. My question is what to do at this point. The rest of the skin looks fine but need to know how to treat the skin?

Sure it is an infection and not a bullet or arrow hole? And the infection spread down the flanks is actually just blood or trauma area? Just a thought. If the hair is not slipping, tan and mount! An application of stop-rot may be a preventative to slip.
