How much realism?

I am doing a mount with a bobcat on a forked tree limb, at the cats front feet I am going to place a squirrel hanging dead over the branch as if the cat placed it there and is looking up at something.
I dont want to create a bloody, gorey mess by any means but I am wondering if the squirrel should display signs of damage from the kill? And if so what?
I would appreciate any ideas on this, thanks in advance.

dead animals do not bleed. just show it as a dead mount in as respectful artistic way as you can.

rough up the fur a little around the neck and possible add a little wetness there to

It seems that most pics/videos I've seen of cat kills (from bobcats to leopards and lions) there is almost no blood - as cats kill by throat suffocation, spine snapping and braincase puncturing (a squirrel would likely be killed by a back of neck bite that would leave no more than small puncture holes...). The only bloody thing would be if you had the cat in the act of feeding....
