Got a guy that is bear hunting and wants to do a full size mount if he gets one.Do you go with the same cuts as a rug or would you sew up the stomach and use a dorsal cut. Thanks for any help

If I were him, I'd case skin the bear. One incision from foot to foot and skin the hide up to the neck. Try to keep the cut in the thick fur. When you get the bear in evaluate it to see what incision will work best for you. Who knows, the guy may change is mind when he tells his wife about the lifesize bear that will be taking residence in their livingroom.
If he's going to get it mounted at a taxidermist's shop, he should rug skin it leaving the claws on with the pelt.
Ozzy, If the guy is absolutly certain he is going to mount life size I would definitly go with a dorsal cut. Even if I were mounting the bear laying on his belly I would much prefer to sew down the back. Andy's point is good though, lots of people might change their mind on the mount but then you would just be sewing up the back to split the belly to rug it. Enjoy, Aaron H.
