i recieved a lifesize bear hide over a week ago. i fleshed and salted it that day, resalted the second day and the fourth day. some areas are hard as a rock, others are still that blueish color and flexible. why are some areas not drying hard? ive done other bears with no problems. its salted in the same area i salt all my hides and never have a problem, its a dry area with a dehumidifier running. thanks.

My bear did the same thing. I think there is some extra grease in the skin where those spots won't dry. I put a fan on it and that seemed to help. I called my tannery and they said don't worry about the whole hide being rock hard before sending it in.
