Hey guys I have two brown bears from Romania that I sent to a tannery.. Don't want to point any fingers but the tannery just called me and said the ears will be bald when I get them back.. Any suggestions? Can a man buy bear ears anywhere? I know that sounds like a far fetched request but I'm desperate!

I have had the same problem many times. I make my own replacement ears. You can use the skin down in the inner thigh area of the back legs or the armpit area of the front legs. Depending on what position the bear is in, will determine where you can steal skin from.
You will want the thinner haired part as your inner ear, leading to the fuller, thicker haired part as your ear edge.
When you do your ears this way, they match the bear perfectly.
Every bear you do will have a slightly different color, hair texture, hair consistency. By using the bear's own hair, it makes for a good match. Good Luck! :)

i have done what brenda has said alot. i keep scraps around and save them or just get it from your speciman. you don`t need to buy anything and it makes you a better taxidermist.
