Hello. I have a nice tanned buffalo hide on my floor in basement and a tanned beaver pelt on the wall. I have noticed the hair coming out in large clumps. There are some type of small grey white cocoons (quarter of an inch long) lots of them. They have some kind of larve in them. They also leave thousands of small round things behind. Possible feces? They are eating the base of the hair off and then it falls out. If anyone knows how to stop this or what to do Please help. I would greatly appreciate whatever anyone can tell me. Thanks. You need to get them out of there to begin with. Put them in a plastic bag and fumigate them. You also need to fumigate your house if you have other mounts as this is just the beginning. Personally, I like the Raid Fumigator, but you'll have to use that in a more open space as it creates a lot of heat with the chemical reaction.
you should put the hides in a deep freezer for a couple of weeks to make sure the fumigation didn't miss any larva or eggs. The extreme cold temperatures will kill of the rest that survived (if any). Like George said, you will have to fumigate your whole house. These bugs are now in your house and will keep attacking any hide or mount you may have.

Thanks for your help on this issue. My question is now, WHere do I get the fumigation chemicals, and how do I do it? If anyone knows, Please let me know. Thanks.
