My bear hide won't dry and now it's starting to lose hair. I mounted it on monday and now it's friday and the paste is still very wet...any ideas?

Have you salted it for 48 hrs. if so you need to go ahead and get it in a pickle.
I always turn everything and salt it 2 time in the 48 hrs. and go ahead and get it in a pickle even if it is not dry. make sure after you get it in the pickle there are no air trapped in the hide keeping the pickle from touching the hide.

Gently back brush hair, to get down to the hide, as you spray it with Knoblochs Slip Stop, then get a fan or two on it pronto. You did not state whether or not the hide was tanned or DP'd. I hope it was commercially tanned. Good luck.

Hey Doug,
a little too late to begin salting and pickling since Olson stated that it is already mjounted, dont you think.

Was it commercial tanned? Did you tan it? If so, did you degrease it properly? Could it just be too much glue in there? You might be too late, I hate to say. Try leaving it right in front of a fan, and leave it dry. No more test pulls! Depending on how slippy, you might be able to squeeze some glue out.
