I have no idea why you would want to do that, but who am i to say. well one suggestion could be hair gell. i use it to get stuborn hair to lay down. why not use it to get it to stand up. my daughter does it. spikes it right up on some days. lol. give that a try. bob
To answer your question Bob, sometimes it gives a (woolier)fuller look to the animal, as I have done it and I almost always back brush the hair on the muzzle and chin anyway. When the mount is dry just take a dog brush and back brush the hair. You need to be careful when you do it tho as to not break the hair.
Jim, If you are after a fuller look to the hair, taxi the skin forward when mounting until you have loaded up the manakin with extra skin. If you are after some extreme standing hair look I would think that back brushing the deer right after mounting would do it-before the skin dries. I would blow dry the hair itself, backbrush and watch it closely for a few days. Using a slower setting adhessive such as Buckeye Supreme and bagging the whole mount in plastic to slow the set down will help to make adjustments next day. Anyway that's how I would try it.-Enjoy, Aaron H.
