Thanks for the help guys, it was indeed a pine martin. Sorry for the ignorance just not many of those here in eastern Arkansas. Are they hunted, what do they taste like, is there a season?

what area or close cities did you hunt in, im in southern colorado near NM.

We went to Chromo Colorado and hunted Navajo Peak. Are you from the area? Plan to go back next year, any pointers? It was hot there this year with no snow.

im on the NM border in colorado but im central. Not to many got bulls here in our area, was kind of warm, not much moving around.Most of the bulls were in a private ranch, way high.


Pine Marten

Pine Martens are on the "Endangered Species" list in New Mexico. They are fully protected. I saw one years ago in the Horsethief Meadow area of the Pecos Wilderness. New Mexico Game & Fish didn't want to believe me but it is interesting that they are and have been doing research to see how many of them occupy the area. They but out track boards and then check to see if there are any tell tale tracks from the Martens. Not sure about their status in Colorado.
