beavers webbed feet

A couple of weeks ago there was a questions about turning the webby back feet on a beaver. The person was told to split them like a lip. Took my first beaver in yesterday. Got to the hind feet and found that my ear openers worked great. I got the pad opened up a bit...inserted the openers.... and wha-la...opened them right to the end. One small hole from me rushing it but other than that no problems. Anyways, just an idea that worked for me.

You don't need ear openers

That membrane is much like a flying squirrels parasol. It opens readily when you skin the toes out and had you used your fingers instead, you likely would have prevented the holes you got. I never heard of "splitting" them.
