Well....just mounted first black bear and had overcome numerous obsticles already such as 3 fist size holes from god knows what in and around the armpit and side chest area and numerous bullet holes, no problem but this bear is VERY VERY thin on chest hair, I managed to hide stitching best i could only to find the hair on my bears face has slipped! leaving me more REPAIRS....I've gotten some ideas from the orange button on how to repair but my question is why this happened?
salted twice, pickled w/safte acid and tannery degreaser 3 days, shaved (not the face area) removed from pickle and degreased in tannery degreaser for 5 hours then put back in pickle for another day, removed, Nuetralized and tanned with Liqua Tan.
What did i do wrong. The bear has never had any odor to it it was a northern Fall season bear.
I think i can fix the areas unfortunatly they are at both eyes and down on cheek area.
will this slippage stop once dried?
Thanks alot
Kevin

"Not responsible for any damages done during the tanning process". Proper field care is just as important as anything you may have or had not done. Slipping happens.
And yes, once you've mounted the animal and it dries, slippage is but a sad memory.
Thanks George,
I'll let you all know how it comes out.
