I am working on my first mount (a squirrel). I am interested in buying the Van Dykes squirrel mounting kit which seems to have everything I need except hide paste (fortunately the squirrel form that comes with the kit will fit the squirrel I have). I know that WASCO has a squirrel kit that includes hide paste, but I don't see a reason for spending twice as much (kit & form) when that's all that's missing the equation. Can someone tell me of a good, inexpensive substitute glue that can be bought locally to use in place of hide paste for my mount. I HAVE searched the archives and found old postings that mentioned caulk and flooring adhesives as well as a lot of arguing...lol. I'm hoping to get a few new suggestions since there are a lot of new products/technologies out there today. I know that I can buy hide paste from one of the many suppliers, but I don't want to buy an excessive quantity to do one mount.
PS. Please be gentle...thanks

For small mammals I like latex caulk from the hardware store; dollar to a dollar and a half for a tube.
that will dry hard and strong, but give you time to work with it will work.... but inferior product will give you inferior results... a home depot type store might have a small amount of two part epoxy and that would be ideal, (as long as it is the right consistency).
Like Griz said, improvise, most any glue works. Just so you know, Cabelas.com has the same kit for 17.99 instead of 19.99, no clue why, money goes to the same place anyway since Van Dykes is owned by Cabelas.
I appreciate the feedback.
Try that from what i have seen that stuff works great! It will bond anything
