I am mounting a bobcat leaping for a bird. What is the best way to keep the claws exposed on the extended leg of the cat while the mount is drying?

Distend the claws and pack the toes full of Apoxie. Watch it closely for several hours making sure the claws don't rotate back into the encased posture.
Dont over pack, cat paws can expand several times their real size.
Study the foot make notes about how the skin is tucked forming the toes.
Now imagine you have some clay in the toes of the cat. Now cat paws are not fleshy and huge. Cat paws are delicate.
Use just enough clay to form the foot and hold the claw out.
I even inject a bit of caulk into the toes. as it dries work them to perfection. You really need time to make this work.
