I've been waiting to catch a mink in my 2 live traps. I've tried deer meat with fish oil as bait. And I've also used Beaver feet as bait. The mink are there, their footprints are always running by my traps. Does anyone got any suggestions on a good bait for mink?

if your traps have a dead end they will shy away from them the old doubled door traps could catch mink with some consitency but ya asking a little animal to stick it self in a tight situation with one way out the way it came in! camo them will good but my best luck is with footholds and bodygrippers. mostly set blind and the footholds gaurding pockets or blind. the bait your using is fine fish is also a good bait but a mink would rather catch fresh! but hunger and fresh bait can win them over. I don't see the need in live trapping unless you don't own leg or body grips. Anyways, like the post infront of this one you need to have 2 open ends. I have never caught a mink in a hole where they couldn't see out the other side. You could make a live trap (rabbit box but smaller) with two dropping doors and maybe catch one. Good luck.
I can't use leghold traps because I don't have the time to check them every day. The law in north dakota say that you have to check all foothold traps every day. I did set some #110 right at the ground on a pole in a mink trail. but the ice here keeps thawing in warmer weather and the bodygrippers sink and get stuck in the ice when it refreezes. I do, though, have a small tube with 2 #110's on each end. I still have to set this one.
