Received salted bobcat. the ears & lips are not split, still membrane& meat over entire cat. Soaking in pickle for last day & half. Should I have used a relaxing agent & soaked cat in that before pickle, or something else? It was hard as rawhide. Will this animal be salvageable? I appreciate any input.

probably nothing hurt - i would just pull out of pickle and put in relaxer for as long as it takes to soften and throw straight back into pickle
The relaxer has a different ph and can raise your ph out of the safe range. You should rinse the skin after relaxing before thoughing into the pickle. It is probably what Terry does too. He just left out a step that he probabaly does without thinking like I do.
