I just mounted a Pine Marten yesterday on a form that I got from Research last year. I'm not sure what kind of scene and habitat I was thinking of at that time, but I'm at a loss now ... I have the critter mounted but I'm having a hard time coming up with something. Maybe a "creative mind" can help me out with some ideas, or if someone has some pics of one they have done like this, as with all of my work this is for my personal collection.
The for is L-964-6, Laying on right side from Research.
Thanks in advance!

I know this is after the fact, but it's a good idea for laying down poses to get the limb or whatever he's laying on ready before you mount.Pine martens live in conifer forests so if you can find any realistic looking pine branches, that might help.Mounts like this tend to be all brown-the animal, dirt, wood etc.,so anytime I can work in some green,I try to do that.It also helps to have some patchy snow for contrast too. You'll need to decide what you want him to be laying on,a snag or whatever. It's hard to find exactly the right shape branch to fit your finished mount,so don't be afraid to splice two or more pieces together to get what you want. You can cover the splices with putty and paint or moss.
That's kind of what I was thinking of, maybe with a branch kind of hanging down because he has his head tilted up like he's looking at something. I have been trying to find pics through google to get a good idea of that type of "scene", but can't find any pictures of them laying down, beginning to wonder if they EVER lay down, LOL!
Thanks Again Jim
