Skull Cleaning Method..

I am trying a new method this summer for cleaning my 2 red fox, 3 beaver, 1 muskrat, 1 bobcat, and 1 jackrabbit skulls. I am doing the method where you put them in a plastic container, cover them with water, and sit them in the sun. After a week I'm going to pour out the water, spray what flesh I can with a hose and recover it with fresh water. I'm going to keep going through this process until it's free of all meat. Boiling has cracked my coon and coyote canines. Has anyone tried this method and does it work?

I didn't put in the sun. I cover the container and do not pour all the water out. It is the bacteria that works on the meat and you need to only pour half the water out. SMELLS GREAT! Takes a month or so. Remove as much meat before hand like any other method. Do a search on MACERATION in the archives. Skulls turn out nice!

I do mine in my shop

I do mine in my shop so the customers can get them back quicker, since it is cold out now and wont work outside. I put them in one of those big plastic container you can get from walmart. Put the water in. Put a garbage bag over top, then put the lid on. I change the water once a week, not dumpin all the water out though. I was surprised but there is no smell of these in my shop. The garbage bag is doing its shop of sealing off the container. Good Luck, Kevin
